It seems a bit postponed that our debut album arrives a year-and-a-half after our first ever studio recording project and so long after we began performing. Years of practice and performance finally led to a series of wintertime sessions in late 2019 and early 2020. Biddy on the Bench has always taken a self-derived and self-directed approach to the ever-widening genre of Celtic music, so it’s fitting that “Make the Rafters Roar” is not only home-recorded, mixed, and mastered, but features a diverse selection of songs and tunes. From shanties to reels, puirt à beul to American logging songs, Gaelic harmony to pub classics, the album offers a reflection of the dynamic energy our shows deliver.

We’d like to thank Kolieha Bush for offering her beautiful home as a recording space, our fiddler Trevor for engineering the entire project, and of course, all our fans and patrons (especially Doug!) who have stuck by us and made our shows so worthwhile.
